According to Facebook, around 450 million people use their site to purchase and sell things locally. The “Groups” feature is mostly used for this form of activity. Due to the company’s numerous users participating in this activity, Facebook has launched a new separate ‘marketplace’ where people can easily buy and sell anything.

Nine years ago, was the last time that Facebook made an attempt to have a marketplace. Unfortunately for Facebook, the concept didn’t go anywhere as the company was only a desktop computer-only product. Now that the marketplace will be accessible on mobile phones, it will be easier for users to take a picture of the item they are selling and upload it onto the company’s website.
The most popular products currently being bought and sold on the service include furniture, cars and clothes.
